Wolverines Tackled Chambers Bay to Finish Sixth at Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash.—The Utah Valley University men's golf team shot a final-round score of 12-over-par 296 on Tuesday at Chambers Bay golf course to finish sixth in the 17-team field at the Redhawk Invitational with a three-round score of 45-over-par 897 (297-304-296).
 
The Wolverines finished sixth at the tournament in front of 11 other teams, including regional rivals Weber State, Idaho, Utah State, and Boise State. San Francisco won the team title with at 16-over-par 868 (282-301-285), followed by UC Santa Barbara (+29) in second place and George Washington (+39) in third.
 
Blair Bursey (74-74-76) and Gabe Lysen (71-78-75) led Utah Valley with three-round scores of 11-over-par 224. The pair tied for the 18th spot on the individual leaderboard. Bursey carded a final-round score of 5-over-par 76 on Tuesday, while Lysen shot a score of 4-over-par 75.
 
Jake Gofrey shot a final-round 1-over-par 72 to finish tied for 33rd with a three-round score of 14-over-par 227 (77-78-72). Ariel Ellftman-Hanson carded a 5-over-par 76 in Tuesday's final round to finish in a tie for 39th with a 54-hole total of 16-over-par 229 (79-74-76). 
 
Aaron Yeates rounded out the scoring with a final-round score of 2-over-par 73 to finish in a tie for 49th with a three-round score of 18-over-par 231 (75-83-73).
 
Utah Valley will wrap up regular season spring play next week at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, April 9-10, at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz. The Wolverines will compete in the WAC Championship, April 23-25, at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
