Westminster College Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Sonoma State Invitational

ROHNERT PARK-Calif.- Women's golf competed at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational, hosted by Sonoma State University at the Foxtail Golf Club. The team scored 330 and 330 and finished ninth with a total of 663.

Sonoma State won the invitational with a 602, Cal State Monterey Bay finished second with a 624 and Concordia – Oregon finished third with a 628.

The Griffins combined to score 330 and finished the first day tied for 7th, with CSU – Chico State. Karen Valcarce carded six over 78, Josephine Fraser carded 82, Cassie Campos shot 84 and Jesella de Jesus shot 86.

Westminster's five golfers all finished with in seven strokes of each other on day two. Valcarce led with an 81, followed by Kanna Crosland with an 83, de Jesus with 84, Campos with an 85 and Fraser with an 88. They combined and finished with a 333.

Valcarce finished with a 159 and tied for 17th. Karen was tied 16th for par 4 scoring, 10-over, tied 14th in par 5 scoring, 2-over, and recorded 20 pars, tied 15th.

Campos recorded three birdies and finished tied 13th. She finished with a 169 and tied for 44th. Fraser and de Jesus finished tied with a 170 and Crosland finished with a 177.

The Griffins will compete April 16-17 at the Maverick Spring Invitational, hosted by Colorado Mesa at The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa.
