Dixie State Women’s Golf Places Eighth at Fort Lewis Fall Intercollegiate

(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – October 23, 2018) Dixie State’s women’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2018-19 season with an eighth-place finish at the Fort Lewis Skyhawk Fall Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the UNM Championship Golf Course.

The Trailblazers (306-322), which began the day two strokes out of fifth place in seventh-overall, fell one spot on the team leaderboard after posting a combined 30-over par 322 to finish with a two-round total of plus-44 628. West Texas A&M (291-299-590, +6) claimed the team championship on the strength of a 7-over 299 to finish four shots ahead of runners-up Texas A&M-Commerce (291-303-594; +10) and Midwestern State (293-301-594; +10).

 

Sophomores Cailyn Cardall (75-81) and Kaitlynn Deeble (76-80) were the top-Trailblazer finishers as the duo finished tied for 32nd at plus-10 156, while freshman Tayllore Ward (75-82) followed in t-37th at plus-11 157. Junior Ashley Fernandez (80-79) posted DSU’s low round of the day with a 6-over 79 to move up to t-44th at plus-13 159, and freshman Jenique Jacobs (82-88) placed t-64th at plus-24 170.

Dixie State will open the 2019 spring schedule at the Point Loma Sea Lion Invitational February 4-5, at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Course in San Diego, Calif.
