Westminster Golf Teams Update

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Westminster men’s and women’s golf teams completed play at the Cal Baptist Spring Break Invitational on Tuesday. The Westminster men finished 12th in the 16-team field while the women placed ninth in the 12-team field.The Westminster men shot a third round 311 to finish the tournament with a score of 943. The Griffins finished in the 12th position and were five strokes better than Biola University. With a final round 78, Alex Howlett was the top individual for the Griffins in 54th position. Howlett shot 234 over the three rounds. Bryce Till finished at 235 behind his final round 75. Till placed 57th overall. Collin Wilkinson finished 62nd with his 239 while Cole Dixon was 66th with a 242. Matt Bushman was the final performer for Westminster in 68th-place with a score of 243.Oklahoma City University won the team title with a total score of 870. Savannah Art & Design shot a final round 279 to finish at 875 and jump two positions to finish second. Greg Richards from SCAD used his final round 66 to climb seven positions and claim the individual title with a 213. Johan Andersson from Southern Nazarene finished second at 214 while Michael Palmer from Oklahoma City and Aaron Ahrendsen tied for third at 216.The Griffin women earned a ninth-place finish with a 36-hole score of 681. Westminster shot 335 on Tuesday, but failed to make up any ground from Monday. Brandi Bork finished 27th overall after her two-round score of 164. Mikayla Williamson used her second round 81 to finish at 171 to tie teammate Candace Dechant for 37th. Keni Nelson placed 49th with her 180 while Katie Felt was 51st behind a score of 181.British Columbia University at 612 won the team title over Oklahoma City by one stroke. Victoria and Wayland Baptist tied for third at 629. Laura Jones from Oklahoma City and Megan Woodland of Victoria tied for the individual title with scores of 147. Reagan Wilson from British Columbia finished third with a 151.Westminster will return to action on Monday, March 28 when they host Lewis-Clark State College in a dual meet at the Sun Brook Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
