UVU Men’s Golf Still Leading After Round Two at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia—The Utah Valley University men's golf team continues to lead the 24-team field at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate after carding a second-round team score of 9-over-par 289 on Monday. The Wolverines sit atop the leaderboard with a two-round score of 16-over-par 576.
 
Utah Valley sits just one stroke ahead of second place Southern Illinois (+17) and five strokes ahead of third place Loyola (+21). Eastern Michigan is in fourth at 22-over-par, while Old Dominion is fifth at 28-over-par.

“It was a super tough day today,” said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. “Our guys were battling food poisoning. I'm extremely proud of how they fought for every shot. We need to have a great day tomorrow to finish this off.”
 
Aaron Yeates led the Wolverines on Monday, carding a second-round score of 1-under-par 69. The freshman tallied a pair of birdies on the front nine and then went just 1-over on the back for his 69. Yeates moved up 16 spots on the individual leaderboard and is now tied for fifth with a two-round score of 3-over-par 143 (74-69).
 
Jake Godfrey shot a second-round score of 1-over-par 71 on Monday. The junior tallied three birdies and 11 pars on the day. Godfrey moved up 19 spots on the leaderboard and is now tied for 16th with a two-day score of 6-over-par 146 (75-71).
 
Blair Bursey carded a 3-over-par 73 in Monday's second round. The senior registered two birdies on the day and is now tied eighth with a two-round score of 4-over-par 144 (71-73).
 
Ariel Elftman-Hanson and Gabe Lysen each shot second-round scores of 6-over-par 76 on Monday. Eltman-Hanson shot 6-over on the front nine and rebounded with three birdies on the back nine to shoot remain at 6-over-par on the day. Lysen shot 7-over on the front and fought back with three birdies to go under par on the back nine for his second-round score of 6-over-par 76. Elftman-Hanson, who was tied for the first round lead, is now tied for eighth at 4-over-par 144 (68-76). Lysen is tied for 43rd at 10-over-par 150 (74-76).
 
Utah Valley will compete in the final round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Wolverines begin teeing off at 9:15 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at BirdieFire.com.
