Utes Edge Aggies in Wyoming Classic in Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. –
Utah State’s Chanse Godderidge shot a career-low 65 during the final round of the 2011 Wyoming Cowboy Classic held at Talking Stick Golf Course in Arizona Tuesday to help Utah State finish in 17th-place with a 33-over 873 (296-294-283). USU shot a 3-over 283 during its final round, which was the ninth-best team score of the day.
Godderidge’s 65 is not only a career-best, but also the best round by an Aggie golfer since Devin Daniels shot a 64 during the 2007-08 season at a tournament played in Palm Springs, Calif.
Utah finished ahead of the Aggies by three shots with Derek Adams shooting three steady rounds of 70-72-70 for a top 25 finish at 212.
Baylor won the 20-team tournament with a 4-under 836 (282-273-281), while Arizona’s Tarquin Macmanus took medalist honors with an 8-under 202 (66-70-66). Godderidge’s 65 was tied for the second best round of the day and tied for the third-best round of the tournament behind a pair of 63’s.
Utah and Utah State will return to action on Friday, April 15 when it competes in the BYU hosted PING Cougar Classic.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The University of Utah men’s golf team completed the Wyoming Cowboy Classic Tuesday at the Talking Stick Golf Club, posting their lowest team score of the season. The Utes posted their season-best round score of 284 during the final round for a finish of 870 (292-294-284) to tie for 15th. Senior Derek Adams maintained his top-20 finish with a two-over-par score of 212 (70-72-70), tying for 20th.
Senior Jeff Kitches posted a stellar third-round score of 70, even with par, to finish the tournament tied for 45th with a mark of 218 (75-73-70). Freshman Ben Bankhead also swung a 218 (75-73-70) and tied for 45th, while senior Mike Branca tied for 75th with a score of 223 (75-75-73). Senior Chase Hite completed the Cowboy Classic tied for 91st with a mark of 227 (79-74-74).
Utah competes in its final regular-season tournament at the Ping Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah. The tournament will take place April 15-16 at the Riverside Country Club.
