MARICOPA, Ariz.—The Utah Valley University men's golf team carded a 5-over-par 293 in Sunday's final round of the Southern Dunes Invitational at Southern Dunes Golf Club to finish ninth at the tournament with a three-round score of 30-over-par 894 (307-294-293).
The Wolverines finished 29 strokes ahead of Idaho in 10th place. The team was just six strokes behind Air Force in the eighth spot. Tournament host Wyoming won the team title with a score of 10-under-par 854 (288-289-277).
Blair Bursey led Utah Valley on the individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 5-over-par 221 (76-72-73) to finish in a tie for 21st. Bursey carded a final-round score of 1-over-par 73 on Sunday, finishing his round with four birdies and 10 pars.
Ryan Barber tied for the 25th spot after shooting a final-round score of 3-over-par 75 for a three-round score of 6-over-par 222 (75-72-72). Barber recorded two birdies and 12 pars on Sunday.
Ariel Elftman-Hanson moved up three spots on the individual leaderboard after carding an even par 72 in Sunday's final round. Elftman-Hanson finished in a tie for 48th with a three-round score of 12-over-par 228 (80-76-72).
Jake Godfrey finished in a tie for 52nd with a three-round 13-over-par 229 (82-74-73), while Nick St. Clair finished 60th with a three-round score of 19-over-par 235 (76-81-78).
Utah Valley will play its final tournament of the fall season at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational, Oct. 29,-31, at the Princeville Makai Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii.
