USGA Provides Another Intern for UGA

The United States Golf Association has extended another P.J. Boatwright Internship to the Utah Golf

Association this year.

Matt Fankhauser, a junior at the University of Utah, has been granted the internship and will work this

summer and fall for the UGA.

“The United States Golf Association has extended this internship program to the UGA for five previous years and we are very appreciative of this significant contribution to the UGA by the USGA,” said Doug

Baxter, President of the UGA. “It is the equivalent of about a $40,000 contribution so far.”  Previous interns funded by the USGA have included Paul Phillips, Xavier Gondra, Jason Asplund, and Bret

Gines.

“This USGA internship program is a win-win situation for everyone,: said Joe Watts, UGA Executive

Director.”The UGA benefits from the efforts of the interns, and the interns learn a great deal about golf

administration.”

Matt Fankhauser is majoring in Mass Communications at the University of Utah. He graduated from Skyline High School and played on the golf team. He has worked for several years at Mountain Dell.

He will help the UGA with office operations, course rating, tournament management, and supervising

handicaps.
