UGA Announces Change to SPPR Ranking System

The Utah Golf Association has announced a revised formula for determining the rankings in the UGA Senior Player Performance Ranking (SPPR) system for the 2011 season. Many tournaments are included on the tournament list, but the major UGA senior events are given greater weight.
It is a simplified, easily understood point system and the complete details are listed on the UGA web page. Click here to goto the SPPR page on the website. The page explains the point system, the approved tournaments, and a continually update ranking of all the participating players in the system.
The purpose of the rankings is to provide an objective measure of performance to aid the UGA in selection of UGA teams and performance awards. The UGA sponsors teams that include seniors in the Utah/Arizona Shootout, the UGA/PGA Governor’s Cup Matches, and the Southwest Matches..
Last year the winner of the Senior PPR title was Bill Probst, and he was also named UGA Player of the Year. The SPPR was one of the major considerations in the naming of the UGA Player of the Year.
