Summerhays Sinks Ace, Makes Cut at Hilton Head
After missing the last six or seven cuts on the PGA Tour Daniel Summerhays, with the aid of a hole-in-one on the 17th hole, shot a second round 66 to make the cut Saturday at the Heritage Classic at Hilton Head.
Summerhays made birdies on 6, 7, and 9 on the front nine and then birdied 13 and 15 on the back and things were looking great for making the cut—and then disaster, a double bogey on the 16th, which put him back on the bubble number. And then an ace on the 17th. Oh, this fickle game of ours. Taunting and teasing.
Summerhays shot 73-66-139 and the cut came at 142. He stands in 35th place going into the final two rounds.
The tournament is being televised on CBS Saturday and Sunday.
