Rustand Brothers Advance to U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship

2004 Utah State Amateur Champion, Clark Rustand, teamed up with his brother (Eric) to earn a spot in the 4th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.  In a cloudless, windless, perfect day at Bloomington Country Club in St. George UT, Eric and Clark Rustand used their putters to capture their spot in a national championship.  The team carded 7 birdies and an eagle to shoot a four-ball score of 63 to clip BYU’s Kelton Hirsch and CJ Lee by one stroke.  Lee and Hirsh, playing in the first group of the day, posted a strong 64 and their top score didn’t have a scare as group after group posted higher numbers.  The Rustands may not have been the favorite heading into the qualifier, but their 63, got people’s attention as they took over the top spot.  Lee and Hirsch finished as 1st alternate while Dan Horner and Darrin Overson finished as the second alternate.

Next up will be the Championship proper which will be host in mid-May at Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta, Fla.
