Entries Being Accepted for UGA Senior Match Play at Glen Eagle
The Utah Senior Match Play Championship will be held May 24-27 at Glen Eagle Golf Course in Syracuse and entries are now being accepted at the UGA office, 563-0400. The entry fee is $85 and does not include carts. The entry deadline is Monday, May 16th.
There will be several divisions of play. The Championship Division will include players from 50-64 and will be gross only. A Super Senior Division of 65 and older will also be held and that will also be gross only.
A separate net division will also be held and will not be divided by age groups. Those playing in the Net Division must designate that choice on their entry form. No one can play in more than one division.
The previous year’s champions in both gross divisions are exempt from qualifying and will automatically be the no. 1 seed within their division’s match play bracket. The Net Division champion will be required to qualify for the net match play tree. There are no refunds for players who do not advance to match play.
The tournament begins with a qualifying round on Tuesday, May 24th. There will be 32 advance to match play in the Championship Division and 18 who advance in the other two divisions.
On Wednesday there will be two rounds of matches in the Championship Division and one round of matches in the other two divisions.
On Thursday all divisions will play their quarterfinal and semifinal rounds and the championship matches in each division will be held on Friday. Day 1 (AM) – 18 Hole stroke play qualifying for match play tree. (32 player bracket for Championship, 16 player bracket for other divisions.) Day 2 (AM) – Round of 32 (Championship); Round of 16 (All other divisions) Day 2 (PM) – Round of 16 (Championship Division only) Day 3 (AM) – Quarter-Finals (All Divisions) Day 3 (PM) – Semi-Finals (All Divisions) Day 4 (AM) – Finals (All Divisions)
