Blake in 11th Place at Regions Classic in Alabama
Jay Don Blake shot a 69 in the second round of the Regions Classic at Shoal Creek, Alabama and positioned himself in 11th place going into the final two rounds. He has rounds of 72-69-141 and trails the leader, Mark Calcavecchia by eight shots.
In the last tournament on the Champions Tour Blake finished second after losing a playoff to John Cook.
Dan Forsman is in 43rd place with rounds of 72-76-148 and Mike Reid is in 50th place with rounds of 75-77-150.
There are two interesting historical notes in this tournament. Back in 1981 Blake shared NCAA Co-Player of the Year honors with Bob Tway, and they were paired together in today’s round. Blake edged him by three shots today.
Back in 1980 Blake won the NCAA championship in a playoff with Hal Sutton. Sutton is also playing in this tournament and has rounds of 77-77-150.
