Blair Wins Snow Shortened Spanish Oaks Open

   SPANISH FORK – Despite hitting his drive out of bounds on No. 18 and making double bogey on the tight par 5, BYU sophomore Zac Blair shot 4-under 68 Sunday to win the snow-shortened Spanish Oaks Open.
   Saturday’s first round was canceled with snow covering the golf course, but conditions were not much of a factor for Sunday’s round. The pin placements, however, were another story as golfers struggled to hit it close and make putts on the slick greens.
   But making putts never seems to be a problem for Blair, coming off his first collegiate win a couple of weeks ago at the Cougar Classic. Sunday’s round was Blair’s first tournament round since that victory at Riverside Country Club.
   Starting on No. 14, Blair made four straight pars before his double bogey on No. 18 put him at 2-over. From there, however, he made three straight birdies and was quickly on his way to turning things around. By making birdie on four of his final five holes and shooting 32 on Spanish Oaks’ front nine, Blair posted a score that finished one ahead of three others – professional Todd Tanner and amateurs Steve Poulson and Jordan Rogers.
   Tanner, playing in only his fifth tournament in the past year, took home the $1,400 first-place professional check.
   Justin Keiley, Luke Swilor, Dustin Volk and Mark Owen finished two back with 2-under 70s. Josh White and Chris Moody shot 71.
