Aggies Finish Ninth in Chandler Tourney
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Utah State’s men’s golf team finished in ninth-place at the Washington State hosted Snowman Getaway held here at the Whirlwind Golf Club Monday and Tuesday after shooting a final round 301.
Utah State began the 15-team tournament with a 5-under 283, followed by a 22-over 310 during its second round Monday. On Tuesday, USU shot a 13-over 301 to finish in ninth-place. Missouri won the team championship with a 23-under 841 (280-280-281). The Tigers’ Emilio Cuartero took top individual honors as she finished with a 10-under 206 (71-65-70).
Sophomore Brendan Dennis (Roosevelt, Utah) had the best round of the day for Utah State on Tuesday as he shot an even-par 72 and finished tied for 29th with a 6-over 222 (71-79-72). Senior Benjamin Schilleman (Layton, Utah) shot a final round 75 and also tied for 29th with a 6-over 222 (71-76-75), while fellow senior Tyson McFarland (Rexburg, Idaho) shot a final round 78 to tie for 29th as well at 6-under 222 (69-75-78).
Utah State had two more members of its team compete as junior Austin French (Idaho Falls, Idaho) finished tied for 50th with a 12-over 228 (72-80-76), and fellow junior Chanse Godderidge (Smithfield, Utah) tied for 68th with a 20-over 236 (77-80-79).
Utah State will continue its spring schedule on Thursday, March 24 when it competes in the Cal Poly hosted Lamkin Grip Match Play Challenge at Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande, Calif.
