Memories! Summerhays, Finau Tee It Up at Sony Open Today
Memories, memories!
Back in 2006 Tony Finau and Daniel Summerhays teed off in the championship match of the Utah State Amateur. At the time Summerhays had already won the State Am twice, but Finau won the title that year and prevented Summerhays from winning his third. This morning, at Waialae Country Club, the two are teeing off again, this time in the Sony Open on the 2011 PGA Tour.
Summerhays is in the event as a card carrying member of the 2011 PGA Tour, a privilege he won through his performance last year on the Nationwide Tour. He will be playing full time on the tour. Finau is in the event as one of four Monday qualifiers. Finau shot a five under par 67 to earn one of the tournament spots.
Summerhays tees off the #1 tee at 9 a.m. and Finau tees off the #10 tee at 8:30 a.m. There is a three hour time difference between Hawaii and Utah.
Another quasi-Utahn, Dean Wilson, is also in the field. He tees off at 8:10 on #10.
