Mary Peacock, Wife of Utah Golf Hall of Famer, Passes Away

After enjoying a marvelous family gathering in her home on Christmas Day, Mary Peacock, wife of Utah Golf Hall of Famer Arlen Peacock, passed away the day after Christmas. She died of a recurring cancer after a year of efforts to eradicate the disease.
Arlen and Mary have been married for 57 years. Arlen served on the UGA Board of Directors for nine years and as its president in 1997 and 1998. Mary was closely involved with the UGA board and its activities during those years and was well acquainted with many of Utah’s golfers.
“We extend our sympathy to Arlen and his family at this time and express our love and respect for Mary,” said UGA President Bill Probst.
The funeral has been set for Friday, December 31, at the LDS Granite Park Stake Center at noon. There will be a viewing and visitation at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Mary Ruth Clark Peacock 5/2/1934 ~ 12/26/2010 Mary was born on May 2, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arthur W. Clark and Jane Sketchley Foote. Mary married her life long sweetheart Arlen R. Peacock, for time and all eternity on March 13, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four sons: Craig, Kurt, Brent, and Kyle. Preceded in death by son, Kyle in1967; parents; brothers, Art and Ray; sisters, Dorothy and Fern Ella. She graduated from South High School and LDS Business College excelling in shorthand and typing. She worked at Valley Bank and Trust for many years, retiring in 1992. Mary and Arlen were avid Utah Basketball and Jazz fans and they enjoyed traveling together. She was always her grandchildren’s number one fan never missing a sporting event or a program. Mary was a life long, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings with many years spent in the Primary. Mary is survived by her husband Arlen; sons, Craig (Carol), Kurt, Brent (Deena); grandsons, Mark (Natalie), Kyle (Tarah), Wade (Kellie), Cameron and special granddaughter Erica (Cody); and great-grand-children, Sawyer, Chloe, Jackson. Services will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010, at 12:00 noon at Granite Park Stake, located at 601 E Mansfield Ave. There will be a viewing prior to the services at 10:45 at the church. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
