Chris Kesler edged out the field for a victory at the Utah Senior State Amateur South Qualifier held at East Bay Golf Course with a two-under-par round that featured six birdies. Kesler’s round of 70 impressed with back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12, and an under-par score on both the front and back nine. Despite four bogeys, Kesler managed to secure medalist honors and, most importantly, a spot in match play June 5-7 at Jeremy Ranch, Tuhaye and Glenwild.

Seven total Championship flight golfers qualified for match play with two golfers tied for second place with a score of 71 for their round. Poulson and Fairbanks both had four birdies during their respective rounds, and Fairbanks even notched an eagle on the par-5, hole 12.

The Super Senior division was led by Dave Johnson with an even-par 72 round. Johnson’s round was highlighted by four birdies on the back nine, including three in a row. Second place was secured by Doug Marriott with a score of 74 on the day.

In the Net Division, the leader Tim Perko carded a gross score of 78, net 66 to claim medalist honors and the first qualifying spot. Wiseman claimed the second spot with a 77 gross, 70 net score. Four golfers in total qualified at East Bay.
