Folster to Lead UGA Rules and Competitions

The Utah Golf Association is excited to announce Utah native Easton Folster as its new Director of Rules and Competitions.  Easton was born and raised in Mapleton, Utah, where his parents still reside.  He is the baby of his family, with his two older sisters who still live in Utah and an older brother living in Phoenix.  He is a graduate of Springville High School where he played soccer and basketball.

Folster has spent the past three years as the Director of Rules and Competitions for the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, overseeing all tournament operations, supervising course rating operations and serving as head Rules official of specific SCAGA championships and USGA qualifiers.

Prior to the start of his professional career working in the golf industry, Easton was a collegiate soccer player for Brigham Young University before earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from Campbell University in North Carolina.  Less than two years later, Folster earned a Master of Professional Studies Degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.  During his time in graduate school, Easton worked in the athletic departments at both Georgetown University and George Washington University.

Folster discovered his passion for the golf business while working at the Virginia State Golf Association as a USGA Boatwright intern before accepting a full-time position with the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association.  Working the past three years as the Director of Rules and Competitions, Easton is well versed in the Rules of Golf and in conducting premier golf championships.

“We had many great candidates apply for the position, and we are thrilled to have Easton join the UGA staff.  He comes highly recommended and will bring a great deal of experience to the position.  I fully expect him to hit the ground running and continue the advancement of our rules and competitions programs with the perspectives he brings having worked with two other state golf associations,” said new UGA Executive Director Jacob Miller.

Easton will begin with the Utah Golf Association on March 19th and can be reached at [email protected].
