Dave Snyder - May Member of the Month

By: Tanner Clegg, P.J. Boatwright Intern

Each the month, the Utah Golf Association runs a Member of the Month contest to recognize one of our valued members. The contests are posted on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and our webpage. We are excited to feature Dave Snyder as our May Member of the Month!

Our question for this month was regarding a new rule that you believed should be in the book. Dave won the contest with a rule consisting of a one-stroke penalty for spitting sunflower seeds on the green. The UGA would encourage every member to make it a habit to exhibit proper etiquette on the golf course at all times to ensure that all players can enjoy their golf experience as well as to show respect for the hard work put in by the course maintenance staff to provide quality course conditions.

Here are a few facts to help all members get to know Dave a little better:

What’s your home course?  Mick Riley

What do you do for a living? Software Developer

What's your favorite golf course?  Seeing the wildlife at Mountain Dell, the red rock cliffs at Sand Hollow, and Wasatch Mountain & Hobble Creek in the fall.

What’s your funniest golf memory?  Watching a player in my foursome at Mountain View, hole number 2, par 3, hit a shot that never got higher than three feet in the air, make a hole in one.  I always remind my son, Greg, “It's not about how, it's how many.”

What are your hobbies? Landscape and wildlife photography.

What is your favorite quote? Who said it?  “In golf, as in life, it's the follow-through that counts.”  -Jeff Waters, Master PGA Professional, Utah Section

Why are you a UGA member?  Maintaining a handicap is the only definitive way to measure your progress in becoming a great player.  In the UGA, great players start here.

Our next contest will be posted on June 1st
