Bountiful Ridge Ladies Capture UGA Team Play Victory

The ladies of Bountiful Ridge Golf Course and Meadow Brook Golf Course went head-to-head at Eaglewood Golf Course on Wednesday, September 20th to determine the 2017 UGA Women’s Team Play overall champion. Both teams finished the regular season strong and rightfully earned their spots in the final match. Bountiful Ridge concluded the regular season as the second-place team in Division 1 with an 8-2 win-loss record, while Meadow Brook completed the Division 2 season at 5-3.
The top two teams in each division advanced to the semifinal round of the playoffs. Bonneville earned the Division 1 title with a 9-1 record, and Bountiful Ridge was the runner-up. In Division 2, the Moosettes of Mountain Dell claimed the regular season title, and Meadow Brook advanced to the semifinal as the runner-up. Bonneville played Meadow Brook in the semis, and Moosettes faced Bountiful Ridge. In a surprising turn of events, both runners-up advanced to the final match at Eaglewood.
In the first match, Bountiful Ridge Captain Deb Midgley and Wendy Jerman took on Meadow Brook’s Lisa Mensinger and Janet Johnson. Bountiful Ridge secured all 9 points to take the early lead. Bountiful Ridge teammates Uji Bymaster and Faith Wallin defeated Kathleen Stone and Meadow Brook Team Captain Karen Miller 6.5-2.5 to bring the point total to 15.5-2.5 after the first two matches.
Following the third match between Bountiful Ridge’s Louise Bezdjian/Stacy Jones and Meadow Brook’s Becky Austin/D Hutchings, Bountiful Ridge secured the victory by earning another 7.5 points. And Sherdean Carter and Gayleen Kaneko of Bountiful Ridge finished off the day with a bang by reeling in all 9 points against Meadow Brook’s Karen Thiriot and Helen Nance.
